It was no sweat for trusty K9 Kita to sniff out quite a hefty haul of illegal cannabis hidden inside pressure cookers being transported by a vehicle last week in Florida.

In a celebratory Facebook post, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) offered a “Way to go K9 Kita!” for alerting deputies to what turned out to be just shy of 7.9 pounds (3.6 kilograms) of cannabis with a street value of roughly US$14,000 ($17,360).

It is believed the weed “most likely came from some kind of grow so there’s a higher dollar value for that kind of weight of marijuana,” a DCSO sergeant reportedly told NBC2 News.
